Integrations & APIs

Connect InvGate Asset Management with Zendesk and other tools using our robust REST API.

How does IT Asset Management integrate with ITSM without becoming dependent on it?

Some ITAM tools require a full ITSM implementation to be usable, while others operate independently and integrate only when necessary. InvGate Asset Management is designed to function as a standalone ITAM platform. Asset records can be linked to service workflows when needed (for example, provisioning or audit evidence), but lifecycle management does not depend on adopting ITSM.

How does InvGate Asset Management integrate with Zendesk for asset-to-ticket visibility?

Many organizations run Zendesk for service requests and use a separate ITAM tool for inventory. The gap is that agents and asset managers can’t easily correlate incidents with the affected device. InvGate Asset Management integrates with Zendesk by correlating tickets to assets using an identifier (commonly serial number or asset email). Ticket information is then shown in the asset profile, including open/closed tickets and ticket details.

What identifier does the Zendesk integration use to link tickets to assets?

Ticket-to-asset linking requires a stable identifier that exists in both systems. In InvGate Asset Management’s Zendesk integration, organizations configure a Zendesk custom field and map it to identifiers such as serial number and/or email. The integration matches Zendesk ticket values against asset records using those identifiers.

How frequently does InvGate Asset Management sync Zendesk tickets?

Ticket visibility depends on synchronization cadence, but also needs an escape hatch for "I need this asset updated now." InvGate Asset Management performs Zendesk synchronization on a periodic basis (described as hourly for general syncing). Additionally, when a user opens a specific asset profile, the platform can refresh ticket data for that asset to reduce waiting for the next full cycle.

Can InvGate Asset Management connect to multiple service management tools at the same time?

Some organizations run multiple service desks (e.g., Zendesk for customer support, ServiceNow for internal IT) and want asset visibility across them. InvGate Asset Management supports integrating with more than one service management system in parallel (one per connector type). In the asset profile, tickets appear in separate tabs per connected system (e.g., Zendesk tab + ServiceNow tab).

What integration capabilities matter most for ITAM—and what does InvGate support?

Prioritize: MDM/UEM (Intune/Jamf), identity (AD/Entra/Okta), cloud (AWS/Azure), and service management (for tickets-to-assets). InvGate Asset Management integrates across these categories and also supports extensibility through APIs and marketplace connectors. All integrations are managed through the centralized Integration Directory within the platform.

Does InvGate Asset Management provide a REST API suitable for ITAM automation?

Yes—the platform exposes a REST API to manage assets, fields, reporting, and integrations. For due diligence, review authentication methods, rate limits, audit logging, and coverage for the specific CIs you’ll manage.

Do integrations impact data residency?

They can. Any integration may transmit identifiers and asset metadata to third parties depending on how it’s configured. With InvGate Asset Management, keep residency in mind for external connectors and validate each integration’s data flows during security review.

How automatic is relationship mapping in InvGate’s CMDB capabilities?

In ITAM, some relationships can be derived automatically (software installed on devices). For infrastructure relationships (e.g., VMware layers), InvGate Asset Management can suggest relationships based on discovered data and help users build/maintain diagrams with less manual effort.

How do I consolidate IT asset data from multiple tools into one view?

Most IT environments run four to seven separate tools, each holding a piece of the asset picture: endpoint management, network discovery, security, ticketing, and spreadsheets. None of them share data natively, so your team is always reconciling. InvGate Asset Management integrates natively with Microsoft Intune, JAMF, and cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and VMware. It also offers an open API for connecting Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools. The result is one inventory that reflects data from across your stack, not a replacement for every tool you run.

What integrations does a hardware asset management tool need to work with the rest of the IT stack?

A hardware asset management tool that operates in isolation quickly becomes a data silo — accurate asset data depends on information flowing in from procurement, HR systems, network discovery tools, endpoint management, and ITSM platforms. Gartner's Market Guide (G00825237) defines application connector APIs as mandatory, specifically covering procurement, network discovery, UEM, CMDB, ITSM, ITAD, SAM, and HRIS integrations. InvGate Asset Management is built with an API-first architecture that connects across this full ecosystem, including native integration with InvGate Service Management for end-to-end visibility from ticket creation through asset assignment and return.

What third-party integrations does InvGate Asset Management support?

InvGate integrates with Microsoft SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, JAMF (for Apple device management), Active Directory, Azure AD (Entra ID), AWS (for cloud asset discovery), Azure (for cloud asset discovery), Google Workspace (for Chromebook discovery), InvGate Service Management (native integration), communication platforms (Slack, Microsoft Teams), monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog), remote access tools (TeamViewer, AnyDesk), and identity providers (Okta). Additional integrations are available through the InvGate Marketplace and via API. We are constantly adding more integrations, you can see them all in: https://invgate.com/integrations?product=Asset+Management

Does InvGate have a REST API? What can it do?

Yes, InvGate has a comprehensive REST API that allows you to create, read, update, and delete assets, manage custom fields, pull reports, automate workflows, and integrate with other systems. API documentation is available at any customer's URL: https://[your-instance].cloud.invgate.net/public-api/swagger/v2/

Can InvGate import data from spreadsheets or other ITAM tools?

Yes, InvGate supports CSV import for asset data for most CIs, making migration from other tools or spreadsheet-based tracking straightforward and efficient.

Can InvGate integrate with Microsoft Intune for MDM?

Yes, InvGate integrates with Microsoft Intune to discover and inventory managed devices including Windows, iOS, and Android endpoints managed through Intune.

Do integrations affect data residency?

If you choose to use third-party integrations and custom apps, data may be processed outside your designated hosting region depending on the integration provider's infrastructure. API requests made by integrations are processed according to the third-party provider's data policies.
