How to geolocate assets using InvGate Asset Management’s Agent.
Before we begin, make sure the Agent is installed on the devices you want to track. This ensures that each asset regularly reports information to the platform, including asset geolocation data. Also, make sure that your asset settings allow geolocalization.
- Go to Settings > CIs > General.
- Enable geolocalization.
- Save changes.
- Go to Assets.
- Search for a specific asset using criteria (Inventory ID, name, brand, or model, etc.) or apply a filter to display only devices with the Agent installed.
- Click on any device to view its details. In the asset profile, you’ll find a “Geolocation” info box.
Note: Once the changes are saved and the feature is enabled, the InvGate Asset Management Agent will include the device’s latitude and longitude as part of its inventory report.
Optional: Use InvGate AI Smart Search to quickly find, for example, all assets with the Agent installed.
How to tag assets by location (country, city, office, floor).

- Select “Assets in Buenos Aires”.
How to create a dashboard showing assets by location.
The Dashboard section gives you a quick overview of the most important asset metrics in InvGate Asset Management. Among its predefined charts, you’ll find visualizations for Assets by Location and Assets Geolocation, helping you understand where your devices are and how they’re distributed.
- Go to Dashboard.
- Scroll through the predefined charts until you find:
- Assets by Location – Displays the number of assets assigned to each registered location in your instance.
- Assets Geolocation – Shows a map with the last reported coordinates of Windows devices (tracked via the Agent).
You can interact with each chart to explore your assets in more detail. For the Geolocation map, use the zoom controls (+ / –) to focus on specific regions. For the Assets by Location chart, you can:
- Hover over any location to see the total number of assets in that area.
- Click on a location to drill down into more specific levels (e.g., country > city > office).
You’re not limited to the predefined charts. You can build your own custom dashboards and combine variables (like asset type, location, and compliance status) to create tailored visualizations that match your specific needs.
