Summary

The Lenovo ThinkPad X9-15 Gen 1 emerges as a highly compelling premium business laptop, representing a significant redesign for the ThinkPad line. Its primary strengths lie in its stunning, robust all-aluminum chassis, making it exceptionally thin and lightweight for a 15-inch device. The phenomenal 15.3-inch 2.8K 120Hz OLED display is a major highlight, offering vibrant colors, sharp details, and advanced features like Dolby Vision and HDR 600 True Black, catering to users who prioritize visual fidelity. Performance is strong for productivity and AI-accelerated tasks, driven by the efficient Intel Core Ultra processors with integrated NPUs, enabling seamless multitasking and Copilot+ experiences. The comprehensive security suite, including TPM 2.0, biometric authentication, and ThinkShield, ensures enterprise-grade data protection.

However, the X9-15 Gen 1 introduces changes that may not appeal to all traditional ThinkPad users, most notably the removal of the iconic TrackPoint. The soldered RAM limits future upgradeability, and while capable, it is not designed for heavy gaming or workstation-level computational demands. Despite these points, its overall package of premium design, exceptional display, strong performance, and class-leading battery life positions it as a top-tier choice for business users and creative professionals seeking a highly portable and capable machine.

Recommendations: This laptop is highly recommended for business professionals, executives, and creative users who require a sleek, portable, and powerful device with an outstanding display and long battery life. It is particularly well-suited for those embracing AI-enhanced workflows. Users prioritizing the traditional ThinkPad TrackPoint or requiring extensive RAM upgrades should consider other models.
