InvGate Asset Management + PostgreSQL

Database instances are critical infrastructure components, but they often go untracked because manual inventory is time-consuming. Integrating PostgreSQL discovery with InvGate Asset Management gives your team visibility into every database instance running across your environment without manual effort.

The discovery source scans your network and detects PostgreSQL instances. Each discovered database is created and updated as a Configuration Item under the Databases CI family, with key metadata pulled automatically. This supports audit readiness, reduces manual tracking, and improves visibility into infrastructure dependencies.

How it works

Configure the discovery source under Settings > Network > Discovery Sources, and the system scans your environment for PostgreSQL instances on a defined schedule.

Key Features

  • Automated Database Discovery: Detect PostgreSQL instances across your network without manual intervention. Each instance is registered as a CI under the Databases family.
  • Continuous Synchronization: Discovered databases are updated on each scan cycle, keeping your inventory current as instances are added or removed.
  • Audit and Compliance Support: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date record of all database instances to support internal audits and regulatory requirements.
  • CMDB Integration: Database CIs can be linked to other assets and business applications in the CMDB, helping teams understand dependencies and assess impact.
